Allan 'Rocky' Lane (1909–1973)
Un grand acteur de la periode republic pictures lui aussi,il fit revez autant de monde quand grand acteur d l'epoque de la trempe d'un gary cooper ou autre.Neé en 1909 dans l'indiana et tout comme rex allen il fut un veritable cow-boys travvaillant dans le ranch familliale de son grand oncle au nouveau mexique.
En 1928 allan est repérez par un producteur qui passait vers cette region du nouveau mexique et proposa au jeune homme un contrat,et premier film en 1929.Très peu de films pendant cette periode et meme des anneés noires pendant environs 4 ans l'eloigneront des plateaux,pour reaparaitre en 1936 puis pour tournez et oui dans les aventures de charlie chan.
Sa rencontre avec l'acteur sammy baugh va changé sa vie puisqu'il sera avec lui dans le serialles gardes forestiers et les roi du texas.
En 1937 et jusqu'and 1939 il signera avec la RKO pour quelques films et surtout des westerns et aura pour partenaire harry carey père,et dans les anneés 1940 sera a l'affiche d'un des plus gros succès du serialking of the royal mounted qui feras le tour du monde et rendra cèlèbre allan rocky lane.
Du milieu des anneés 1940 et jusqu'a la fin 1950 il seras le heros de bon nombre de western ou de serial a succès laissant un trace dans nos esprit de cinéphiles car la nous parlons reelement de vraies cow-boy de l'ecran a l'instar d'autres acteur plus connus.
Des aficionados ses westerns les plus connus reste "les cavalier de l'enfer 1960,l'implacable poursuite 1958,le diable dans la peau 1960.
Il fut aussi l'acteur qui interpréta et produit the adventure of red ryder.
allan rocky lane travailla beaucoup avec l'acteur smiley burnette.

Nous abordons cette année le centenaire de la naissance de cet acteur (né le 22 septembre 1909), qui a fait rêver d'innombrables enfants à travers le monde (et notemment en france ou les éditions du Rempart éditérent une BD mensuelle à son nom).
Son rôle le plus marquant, qui lui assura la célèbrité est sans conteste celui du marshal "rocky" Lane qu'il interprêta à 38 reprises de 1947 à 1953 au cinéma.
Il tourna pas moins de 65 films pour la Republic de 1937 à 1953.
Un caractère complexe, mais qui au demeurant lui va parfaitement pour interprêter ce rôle de justicier, implacable avec les hors-la loi.
Aux USA, son nom figure dans la légende au côté de ceux d'hopalong Cassidy, roy Rogers, johnny mack Brown ou encore wild bill Elliott pour ne citer qu'eux.
Un charisme exeptionnel, qui pour moi en fait l'égal des meilleurs toutes époques confondues.

Je posséde pour ma part la série des "rocky" Lane en Z1 et c'est à chaque fois un grand plaisir de retrouver cet acteur si "percutant", dans ces westerns ou la fraicheur, l'action virevoltante et la grandeur d'âme du héros dominent.
Les aventures du marshal "rocky" Lane, c'est de la dynamite !
Je posséde pour ma part la série des "rocky" Lane en Z1 et c'est à chaque fois un grand plaisir de retrouver cet acteur si "percutant", dans ces westerns ou la fraicheur, l'action virevoltante et la grandeur d'âme du héros dominent.
Les aventures du marshal "rocky" Lane, c'est de la dynamite !

Il le mérite bien avec prés de 70 westerns et fidèle à la compagnie 'REPUBLIC' ou il usa pas mal sa fameuse chemise à rayure.

L'actrice Peggy Stewart raconte un jour lors d'une commémoration, comment allan a dû s'y reprendre à trois fois pour le tournage d'une scéne.
Avec son cheval Black Jack il doit franchir une montée très raide.
Lors de ses deux premiers essais il tombe lourdement.
Mais il réussi lors de la troisième tentative.
Il aurait pu être doublé, mais ce n'était pas son truc.
Il était d'ailleurs un excellent cavalier, ayant appris à monter tout jeune au ranch de son oncle.
Un acteur de caractère comme je les aime notre "rocky".
Tiens d'ailleurs, son modèle à l'écran était un certain ken Maynard.

On peut voir( si on ne tourne pas la tête à ce moment) Allan Lane dans l'excellent " les cavaliers de l'enfer" dont le dvd vient de paraître, mini rôle qu'il doit à Audie Murphy, le producteur Gordon Kay n'était pas chaud pour l'engager, Lane était selon lui un "problème".
